We are looking for a Pre-Construction Manager to join our team to work on a wide range of complex projects as well as manage and be responsible for all aspects of construction from start to finish.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review the contract, plans & specifications to determine scope of work and to define project requirements and milestones
- Primary lead on all estimates for the varied scopes of the company
- Lead Project Team at startup to identify project milestones, budgets and specifications (Project Coordinators, Superintendents, Forepersons, Field Crew)
- Review all aspects of project performance with Project Management team; startup, cost, schedule, quality, safety, environmental, client interface, operations, and closeout
- Communication with clients to maintain solid, long-term relationships
- Assisting with achieving the strategic outlook of the division in cooperation with Divisional General Manager
- Review and identify Contractual risks in cooperation with Divisional GM and NorLand Contracts Manager
- Work on Joint Venture major project pursuits (Request for Qualifications and then Request for Proposals) with other companies acting as the Norland lead on the proposal and estimating various aspects of the project
- Analyze the project and estimate requirements and establish a plan for implementation
- Review all major estimates with Divisional GM
- Maintain Tracking of Win/Lose Rates on All Company Estimates
- Participate in financial month end reporting
- Assist Project Teams on identifying and pricing extras
- Renew and coordinate all explosives storage security and TDG regulatory approvals
- Assist with developing the project execution plan with the other members of the Project Team
- Preconstruction management and identifying risk on all aspects of project performance such as safety, environmental, quality, budget, billing, schedule, and operations
- Claims and change order management
- Client and stakeholder point of contact
- Cultivate and maintain solid, long-term relationships with customers
Qualifications:
- Technical diploma or extensive industry experience in shotcrete, foundation drilling, urban blasting and slope stabilization is a requirement.
- 8+ years’ minimum experience managing all aspects of urban civil works from project start to project closeout in BC
- Onsite major project supervision experience on a variety of large scale urban excavations and infrastructure projects which involved high density residential projects, roadways, marine operations and structural shotcrete.
- Ability to effectively manage new client development, client issues, complaints and inquiries whilst providing excellent service to clients
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and MS Projects skills, Hard Dollar or B2W experience is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, outstanding time management, prioritization, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic - ability to work in a confidential, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Valid Driver’s License
- Personable and able to work & communicate with varied personalities
- WorkSafeBC First Class Blasting Ticket an asset but not required
The typical salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000 annually. The exact compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal equity, and other criterion.
